ADAPTATION
Florence Aubenas’s book, « Le Quai de Ouistreham » reflects the economic crisis in a medium-sized town in contemporary France. The journalist shares the daily lives of precarious workers who are forced to survive through exhausting and underpaid jobs. The film aims to place the journalist, portrayed by Juliette Binoche, into the shoes of one of these workers. She is no longer just a witness to this precariousness; she becomes immersed in it. Furthermore, Emmanuel Carrère chose to preserve the authenticity of the story by casting non-professional actresses who play themselves.

FILMING
OUISTREHAM had the honor of opening the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes. The non-professional actresses had the opportunity to walk the red carpet for the first time alongside the entire film crew.
Only Juliette Binoche was absent as she was filming in the United States, but she was able to participate via video call, saying, “I am absent. But in a way, it’s a good idea. Because the invisible will be visible tonight”.
