Monsieur de Pontagnac falls head over heels for a beautiful young woman, only to discover that she is none other than Victoire, the wife of one of his friends, Vatelin. While the notary takes the situation relatively well, Victoire is not so easily manipulated. The predicament has sparked a societal topic and a surprising game around fidelity. As Rediop, Victoire’s admirer, and Suzy, Vatelin’s former flame, enter the scene, the game becomes even more complicated.
